Nora Colette Lofland, age 63, resident of New Haven, Ohio died June 29, 2004 after a 21 month courageous battle with Pancreatic cancer. She met her Lord while surrounded at home by her loving husband, Ronald Lofland, of 44 years, her children, daughter Lora and Jesse Garcia of New Haven, her son R. Christopher and Dawn Lofland of Dayton, four grand daughters; Jessica, Taylor, Morgan Garcia, Genevieve (Genna) Lofland.
She was born July 12, 1940 in Plymouth to the late Dominic and Olive (Goin) Dorion. Nora attended The Church of God in Bellevue and also attended the St. Josephs Catholic Church in Plymouth. Nora graduated from Plymouth High School where she was active in everything she could fit into her schedule, first and foremost Art Club, Choir, and Cheerleading. Her zest for life was contagous.
Nora was a gifted artist. She was a past member of the Brush and Pallett, and the Plymouth Museum Board. She modeled for Plymouth Stich in Time. Nora left a legacy of paintings and murals in businesses, banks, schools, and friends homes. She and her brother Jim Dorion donated a large painting to the National Guard at Mansfield Lahm airport. She was a volunteer art teacher at the Mohican School in Out-of-Doors for a number of years where she painted a large mural for the children. She dearly loved working with children. Nora also painted murals on the walls of New Haven Elementary School, Armitage Collison Center, and Midwest Industries.
Nora worked for RR Donnelly Willard for 18 years.
Nora is also survived by four sisters and spouses: Marion and Robert Krisha of New London, Jane and Dean Morse of Shelby, Ann and Syvonne Kempf of Galion, Florence and Butch Baker of Plymouth. Five brothers and spouses: Ben and Jessie Dorion of Columbus, Francis and Bettie Dorion of Plymouth, Jim and Norma Dorion of Lenior N.C., Mike and Cindy Dorion of Plymouth, Leo P. and Betty Dorion of Shelby. Cousin John and Jan Dorion of Mansfield. Mother-in-law Mildred Sheely of Willard, and sister-in-law Ruth and Tom Kranz of Shiloh. Numerous nieces, nephews, and friends both here and in Canada.
Nora was preceded in death by her parents Dominic and Olive Dorion of Plymouth, one brother David J. Dorion of Shelby, and a dear niece Debra Krisha Blymer of New London.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Friday. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Chad Honaker officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in New Haven. Contributions can be made in Nora’s name and sent to the Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth, Ohio.
