Paul R. Frankart, 90, died peacefully in his home in Hertford, North Carolina on December 25, 2008 following a recent illness.
Mr. Frankart was born April 26, 1918 in Bellevue, Ohio to Jacob H. Frankart and Tessie May Harris Frankart. His only brother, Jack, died in infancy.
His family moved to Willard, Ohio where he attended school, raised his family and worked 40 years for the B&O Railroad / Chessie System until his retirement in 1978.
Mr. Frankart was a 65-year member of the United Transportation Union, The Grand Lodge of Free & Accepted Masons of Ohio and a member of the Snug Harbor Community Church. His interests included bowling, golf, billiards and was a participant for these events in the North Carolina Senior Olympic Games. In addition, he was an accomplished painter.
He is survived by four children, Jack R. Frankart (Ann) of Willard, Ohio; Carl E. Felver (Monica) of Las Vegas, Nevada; Paul A. Felver (Barbara) of Olympia, Washington and Susan K. Dawson of Naples, Florida. Mr. Frankart was preceded in death by his wife Cora Anderson Frankart in 2008, wife Evelyn Frankart in 1998, wife Trudy White Frankart in 1984 and former wife Margaret Mahaffey Moomaw in 1969. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, many great and great-great grandchildren and step-families.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 from Noon to 2:00 PM where the funeral services will be held at 2:00. PM Burial will follow in Greenfield Twp. Cemetery in Steuben, Ohio. A memorial service will be held in the near future in Mr. Frankart’s memory at Snug Harbor Community Church in Hertford. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in memory of Paul Frankart to Albemarle Hospice, P.O. Box 189, Elizabeth City, N.C. 27909.
