Quince Vanderpool, age 68, resident of Steuben, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2006 at his home following a lengthy illness. He was born on October 10, 1937 in Drift, Kentucky to the late Add and Emma (Vanderpool) Vanderpool and had been a life long Willard resident. Mr. Vanderpool served in the US Army Reserve and was a police officer serving in Plymouth for 2 years and with the Shelby Police Department for over 16 years. He later was employed and retired in 2000 from Guardian Manufacturing in Willard. Quince loved to fish, hunt, camp, gardening, watching westerns, collecting coins, coffee cups and pens. He enjoyed playing cards, board games and telling jokes. He was a man well thought of and loved and will be missed by many.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy (Swartz) Vanderpool who he married on Feb. 21, 1995; two daughters, Tonya Vanderpool of Mansfield; and Wendy Jarosick of Lexington; one son, Randy Sherman of Tiffin; three grandchildren, Jerod Bittner and Riley and Taylor Sherman; five sisters and three brothers-in-law, Avanel Hicks of New Haven; Linda and Billy Robinson of Willard; Anetta and Landis Beverly of North Fairfield; Donna Hicks of Willard; Diane and Carl Stevens of Willard; one brother and sister-in-law, Ron and Pat Vanderpool of North Fairfield; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Phil Vanderpool; a sister, Gwendale Gibson; and a nephew, Keith Hicks.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 AM on Saturday with Pastor Herman Copley officiating.
