Regina Welch, age 72, of 143 Franklin St., Plymouth, passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at Willard Mercy Hospital. She died of complications from Acute Myelogenous Leukemia. She was born on May 29, 1937 in Magoffin Co., KY to the late William and Ollie (Webb) Hale. She lived in the New London area most of her married life and raised her children there. She moved to Plymouth in 1995 after the deaths of her mother and father. She worked as a seamstress before retiring in 2002 and many admired her for her expert sewing abilities. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.
Her husband, Francis A. Welch, whom she wed on Feb. 10, 1962, survives her. Two daughters also survive her, Kelly Lyn (husband Gil Solitaria) of North Olmsted and Peggy Sue Welch-Olalde of Willard. Regina enjoyed her six grandchildren, Joshua, Samantha, Ashley, Summer, Sawyer, Spencer, and one great-grandchild, Corie. She is survived by four brothers, Arthur Hale (wife Anna) of Plymouth, George Hale (wife Edna) of Martin, KY, Monte Hale (wife Rebecca) of Plymouth and Bill Hale (wife Linda) of Plymouth; three sisters, Dolly Sue Bistline (husband Bruce) of Plymouth, Rietta Mae Stumbo (husband Clifford) of Shiloh, and Anna Marie Hale of Plymouth; and a sister-in-law, Ezella Hale of New London; along with several nieces and nephews.
Her parents; one brother, Lawrence Hale; a sister, Dorcus Hale; and one infant sister, Barbara Jean Hale, precede her in death.
Friends and family may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth on Friday, February 19, 2010 from 6-9 PM. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2010 at 11:00am at Broadway Baptist Church in Shelby with Rev. Jim Owens and Rev. Bill King officiating. Burial will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery in New Haven, Ohio.
