Richard E. “Dick” Thomas, age 71 of New Haven, Ohio passed away Sunday, December 20, 2015 at The Willows of Willard, surrounded by family and friends. He was born August 17, 1944 in Bellevue, Ohio to Maurice and Ethel (Koch) Thomas. He was formerly employed by the CSX Railroad in Willard, Ohio. He was a life member of the Willard Elks and Moose Lodges and a former member of the Willard American Legion. Dick enjoyed basketball, baseball, dartball, hunting fishing, and being around Lake Erie with his family and friends for the past 30 years.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sandra J. (Tussey) Thomas whom he married on May 29, 1965; two daughters, Vonda K. Moss of Hanover, PA, and Vicky (Heath) Polachek of Willard; nine grandchildren, Britni (Doug) Harrell, Kaelyn Moss, Kaeleigh (Tyler) Buccione, Marisa Moss, Bronson Owens, Jaret, Brevon and Kamdyn Polachek, and Brayden Thwaits. five great grandchildren; his mother, Ethel Slane; sister, Diana (James) Crawford of Mansfield; a step-brother, Steve Slane of Fremont; numerous nieces and nephews; and his favorite dog, Molly.
He is preceded in death by by his father, Maurice Thomas; and step-father, Lawrence Slane.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 27, 2015 from 1:00 to 5:00 P.M. at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard, Ohio, where the funeral service will be Monday, December 28, 2015, at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Blanche Tyree officiating. Burial will follow at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Willard, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society for research in Astrocytoma type brain cancer. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.secorfuneralhomes.com.

My deepest condolences Sandy, Vonda , Vicki & families. Dick was a great person to work with and even a greater friend. I will miss him dearly. But I will always treasure the memories of my dear friend. we shared many laughs together over the years..the best.! of times. will miss you ol’ buddy.
