Richard D. Lahmon, 56, of Walnut Street, Plymouth, passed away June 5, 2005 at home, after a six month battle with malignant melanomia. He was born May 21, 1949 in Mt. Vernon, Ohio to Richard D. and Jeannette (Popham) Lahmon of Utica.
Dick was an outstanding basketball player at Plymouth High School where he graduated in 1967. He spent the summer between his junior and senior years at the University of Kansas studying art. After graduation, he studied one year at Columbus College of Art and Design. He was an avid fishermen. Loved watching NBA basketball games on television and enjoyed his tropical fish aquariums. He was employed at Glen’s Surplus Sales in Shelby.
Surviving are his wife of 24 years, Pam; daughters, Sarah Lahmon and Jessica Lafferty of Plymouth, Traci (Tony) Frankart of Siam; Four grandchildren; brothers, M. Edward (Karen) Mellott of Richmond, Virginia and Michael (Barb) Mellott of Olathe, Kansas; mother, Jeannette Mellott of Plymouth; mother-in-law, Robey Shirey of Willard; and nieces and nephews.
Dick was preceded in death by his biological father, Richard Deshay Lahmon in 1950; brother Ronald D. Lahmon and the only dad he ever knew, Milton E. “Tug” Mellott.
There will be a memorial service Friday, June 10, 2005 at 11:00 AM at the Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth.
