Richard Louis "Dick" Garrett, age 83, of New Haven, Ohio, passed away at home on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 surrounded by his family. He was born May 30, 1937 in Alliance, Ohio to the late Thurman C. and Lavella B. (Mitchell) Garrett He enjoyed restoring old cars, woodworking, gardening, flowers and spending time at his second home in Bay Point in Marbelhead. His two favorite times were spending time with his dog and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren fishing and camping in Canada and Michigan. He had served in the Army National Guard and U.S. Army, and had been a member of the Plymouth American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Faith (Gilbert) Garrett, whom he married November 3, 1974; 6 children, Gilbert S. (Heather) Jameson of CA, Renee L. (Kelly) Summer of UT, Marie "Garrett" Wallace of Plymouth, David A. (Ida) Jameson of OH, Richard P. "Buddy" Garrett of Plymouth and Stacy K (Robin) Moore of New Haven; 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; sister, Jean Keller of Willard; several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Thurman and Lavella Garrett; 2 granddaughters, Amyia Thompson and Temperance Dowell; 2 sisters, Joyce Lykins and Donna Dick; brother, Wade Garrett.
The funeral service for Dick will be at Secor Funeral Home in Willard, Ohio on Friday, October 16, 2020 at 11:00 AM with a graveside service following at Noon at the Maple Grove Cemetery in New Haven, Ohio with Pastor Rick Wiseman officiating.
