Leave a message of condolence

Robert “Bob” Alan Hoebake, 69, of Willard, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio. He was born on April 14, 1951 in Chicago, Illinois to the late David H. and Audrey J. (Jabin) Hoebake.

Bob was a 1969 graduate of Willard High School who went on to obtain his B.A. in Political Science from Baldwin Wallace College in Berea, Ohio in 1973. Throughout his college years, Bob was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. Bob opened the Willard Coin Exchange, starting in Willard and eventually moving to Mansfield, Ohio in the West Park Shopping Center. He was long time member of the Willard Elks, Willard Moose Lodge and Willard VFW.

A musician at heart, Bob was the drummer in the “The Lost Children” band. He was a generous, kind man who had a soft spot for cats and cherished the time he spent with his friends. Those friends have a hole in their hearts with the loss of a truly, great man.

Bob is survived by his aunt, Dolores Graham of Carrollton, Texas; and numerous cousins.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Bruce D. Hoebake.

A Celebration of Bob’s life will be held at a later date. Bob will be laid to rest with his parents in Maple Grove Cemetery in New Haven, Ohio. Memorial contributions can be made the Huron County Humane Society. Secor Funeral Home in Willard is honored to assist Bob’s family with funeral arrangements. As one of Bob’s “numerous cousins” (grin), I will always have fond memories of all the time spent with my Chicago cousins (there’s a mess of us!). I look at old photos of us from those times and can still feel how much we all loved each other. A pretty typical “all-American” family … thanks to our beloved grandparents coming to America so future generations would have their best future … Bob exemplifies all that I am so proud of in our generations past, present and future: an honorable person with a deep love of friends, family, music, and animals. We can all be proud of what this branch of our sprawling family left as their contribution to everything we all held dear. Rest In Peace, “Bobby;” you did our family proud.

I attended high school with Bob and, although we didn't "hang around much", always thought of him as a nice and fun guy. Met up with him again in September 2018 and am so glad I did. It left me with fond memories. My heartfelt condolences to all who loved and will miss him.

I am truly heartbroken. I can shed a tear because you're gone, or I can smile because you lived. Thanks for the great memories, Bob. You will be missed by many. RIP, my friend.

We always looked forward to being with Bob at Sigma Phi Epsilon reunions at Baldwin-Wallace College. Bob was truly a very special fraternity brother, and will be missed in the future get togethers. Bob was always at the ready to lend a hand for any in need and with a kind word. My sincerest condolences to Bob's family and many friends. Always in our thoughts. RIP Bob....

I had the pleasure of spending almost every waking moment of ten years with Bob in the early days of his coin business. Those were the best days of my life and it was because of the friendship I had with Bob. He was kind, empathetic, thoughtful, giving, and wasn’t afraid of a good time! If we weren’t buying and selling gold, silver, coins, or about anything we could make a buck on, we would be walking the fields for arrowheads, playing cards and drinking beer. You will be missed Robert, more than you’ll ever know. Rest peacefully, and give Bruce a big hug for me brother.

I had the pleasure of knowing Bob both as a fellow classmate and as a good friend. The news of his death was shocking and sad, but the follow-up comments from those who knew him show what a wonderful person he was and how much people appreciated having known him. Kind thoughts and prayers are going out to his family and friends. May God grant everyone strength and comfort for the difficult days ahead, and fond memories of Bob for the years to come.

The term “ good guy” doesn’t do justice to Bob. He was simply one of the nicest and best men I’ve ever known.

May the love of friends and family as well as the memory of your loved one carry you through your grief. Sending sympathy and comfort during your time of loss. Grieving is different for everyone and unique to each individual. No one is immune to the ravages of death. Still, what can we do when a close family member or friend dies. God's Word can console us all. How comforting!
