Robert “Bob” Hiler, age 71, New Washington, Ohio, passed away on Monday, November 29, 2021, at Mercy Willard Hospital. He was born on September 15, 1950 in Crawford County, Ohio to the late Clyde and Anna (Karl) Hiler. Bob was a diesel mechanic at Sharpnack Chevrolet prior to becoming the owner and operator of Hiler Service Center in New Washington, and in his later years, enjoyed fixing small engines and equipment. He began his pulling career with his brothers and enjoyed the sport for over 40 years with the OSTPA. Later in life, he loved caring for his cats.
Bob is survived by his daughters, Danell Phillips (Craig Poth) of New Washington, Amanda (David) Siefert of New Washington, and Chelsea (Carlton) Laughbaum of Bucyrus; 8 grandchildren, Cassie, Darren, Devin, Aleyse, Cooper, Carter, Casey and Calista; siblings, Karl Hiler, Faye (John) Rothhaar, Lucy (Tom) Hay, Louie Hiler and Jerry Hiler; sister-in-law, Deb Hiler and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to Bob’s parents, he is preceded in death by siblings, Janet Douglas and Jim Hiler; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Hiler and brother-in-law, Mark Douglas.
Visitation will be at Secor Funeral Home in New Washington, Ohio on Monday, December 6, 2021 from 10:00 AM until the time of his service at 12:00 Noon with Pastor Kevin Mohr officiating. Burial will follow at Mother of Sorrows Catholic Cemetery in North Auburn, Ohio. Online condolences may be made to Bob’s family by visiting www.secorfuneralhomes.com.

Two years ago I met Robert for the first time. I was visiting the family cemetery researching past Hilers. I stopped at his service station and introduced myself. As you can imagine e he was surprised to hear my name and that my relatives were from New Washington. Just today I heard of his passing and myself and extended family send our sympathy. Ps. John Hiler was my great grandfather as well as my late father's name. Small world.
