Robert L. Forster, age 87, longtime resident of Tiro, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2012 at Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky, Ohio. He was born on November 28, 1924 in Willard, Ohio to the late Philip and Frances (Leitz) Forster.
Robert was a 22 year employee of the U.S. Postal service, a longtime member of the former Mother of Sorrows Parish in North Auburn, a member of the Knights of Columbus # 1718 in New Washington, the Conservation League in Willard, the Holy Name Society, the Waycraft Board, the Crawford County Association for Special Needs Citizens, and a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII serving from 1943-1946 as an aviation radio man 2nd class, the National Rural Carriers Association, and the Carl A. Geiger Post of the American Legion # 405. He was past president of the Buckeye Central School Board.
Robert is survived by his wife of 65 years, Kathryn M. (Karl) Forster; his children Daniel (Catherine) Forster of Mansfield, Carolyn (Allan) Lickfelt of Bellevue, Paul (Barbara) Forster of New Washington, Mary (Daniel) Bauer of Sandusky, Pamela (Gregory) Magers of Howard, and Robert Forster Jr. of Bucyrus; His brother Rev. Francis Forster O.S.B. of Belmont Abbey, North Carolina and sister Mary Ann Forster of Sandusky; Also survived by 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Laura Forster, his brothers Bernard and Eugene Forster, and his sister Agnes Forster.
Friends may call on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at the Secor Funeral Home in New Washington, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A prayer service will be held at the end of calling hours at 8:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church in North Auburn, with Father Eric Culler officiating. Burial will follow in Mothers of Sorrows Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the North Auburn Mother of Sorrows Improvement Fund or the St. Bernard School Endowment Fund.
