Robert E. Porter, age 72, resident of Shiloh passed away Sunday, January 11, 2004 at his home. Born December 19, 1931 in Armstrong County, Penn. to the late Walter and Nettie (Barnett) Porter, he had been a Shiloh resident the majority of his life. Mr. Porter was a life long employee of the Fate-Root-Heath Company in Pymouth and was active in the Army Reserves as a young man. He was a member of the Mt. Hope Lutheran Church, the Shelby VFW Post #291, the Dad’s Club and a former volunteer fireman and police officer in Shiloh. He was involved with little league baseball, enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, playing cards and dice.
He is survived by his wife Margaret (Sexton) Porter whom he wed April 14, 1962; one son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Ilena Porter of Shiloh; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Debbie and Joe Deskins of Shiloh; Susie and Ranny Blankenship of Stowe, WV; Jean Porter of Baldwin, MI; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Porter of Shelby; John Porter of Yuma, AZ; three sisters, Martha McQuate of Shelby, OH; Janice West of Shelby; Alice Rundel of Texas; nieces, nephews and other realtives. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tonia Shafer; a great grandson, Cody Blankenship; one sister, Dorothy Shaffer and an infant brother.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth on Tuesday from 5-8 PM. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM from the Mt. Hope Lutheran Church with Pastor Diana Seaman officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shiloh. Memorial expressions can be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio, or the Shiloh/Plymouth Food Pantry.
