Roger Dale Robinson Sr., age 76, passed away on Monday, May 8, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on August 31, 1946 in Topmost, Kentucky, to the late John Green and Herma (Hall) Robinson.  Roger proudly served in the U.S. Marines, was in combat in Vietnam and was a Purple Heart recipient.  He had retired from New Haven Elementary School as a Custodian.  Roger was a Christian man, enjoyed fishing and working in the garage.  Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn (Handshoe) Robinson, whom he married on June 2, 1969; children, Roger Dale (Nickie) Robinson, Jr., Tina Dalton, and Heath (Colette) Robinson, all of Willard; grandchildren, who affectionately called him Poppy, Brooke Robinson, Jeremy Robinson, Kelsey Robinson, Whitney Robinson, Macey Robinson, Averi Robinson, Karsyn Robinson, Zaayden Dalton, Aaron Dalton, Kolten Robinson, Addyson Dalton, Jaedyn Robinson, Braylen Branham, Gunner Robinson and Mia Robinson; siblings, Doug (Janie) Robinson of Ashland, Hansel D. (Debbie) Robinson of Shiloh, Jerry Robinson of Plymouth, John Paul (Debbie) Robinson of Norwalk, Susie (Keith) Sanderson of Willard, Peggy Schiffer of Norwalk and Carma (David) Zacharias of Ashland; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Roger is preceded in death by granddaughter Addalyn Robinson; siblings, Eric Randall Robinson, James Keith Robinson, Rebecca De Hoyos, William L. Robinson, and Lawrence Edward Robinson; son-in-law, David Dalton Jr. and his parent-in-laws, Vince and Carrie (Bolen) Handshoe.

Visitation will be on Friday, May 12, 2023 at the Willard United Baptist Church in Willard, Ohio from 11:00 AM until the time of his service at 1:00 PM with Pastor Danny Hamilton officiating.  Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Willard, Ohio.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Willard United Baptist Church.  Online condolences may be made to Roger’s family by visiting www.secorfuneralhomes.com

I'm so sorry to hear of Roger's passing - he was such a wonderful part of the New Haven Elementary staff! He was cheerful, good with the kids, and willing to help out other staff members whenever needed. He was a favorite! He really loved his family and my sympathies go out to all of you.
