Ronald Rex Lofland, age 69, resident of New Haven, Ohio passed away Monday, May 15, 2006 in MedCentral Shelby Hospital. He was born on April 27, 1937 in Willard, Ohio and had been a Shiloh/Plymouth resident his entire life.
Ron served as a medic in the US Army for two years and then worked 40 years as a repair machinist at RR Donnelly. Ron was an avid BMW motorcycle rider and will be sorely missed by his riding buddies. He was involved in every project Nora and his children ever got into. He contributed his brain power to every situation whether it be carpentry, mechanics, dirt biking with Chris, Lora’s numerous projects or Nora’s art and sewing projects. He had a gift of knowing what to do to solve problems. It was always fun to see him smile and hear him laugh at almost anything. He was always smiling. What a gift!
He was preceded in death by his father, Chester Lofland and his wife and buddy of 44 years, Nora (Dorion) Lofland in 2004.
He is survived by his mother, Mildred (Rex) Lofland Sheely of Willard; a sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Tom Kranz of Shiloh; his daughter and son-in-law, Lora and Jesse Garcia of New Haven; his son and daughter-in-law, Ronald Christopher and Dawn Lofland of Dayton; four granddaughters, Jessica, Taylor and Morgan Garcia; and Genevieve (Genna) Lofland; his special friend and companion, Pat Jacobs of Plymouth and her family; his brothers and sisters of the Dorion family, Marion and Robert Krisha of New London; Jane and Dean Morse of Morse of Shelby; Ann and Syvonne Kempf of Galion; Florence and Butch Baker of Plymouth; Ben and Jesse Dorion of Columbus; Francis and Bettie Dorion of Plymouth; Jim and Norma Dorion of Lenoir NC; Mike and Cindy Dorion of Shelby; L. Patrick Dorion of Shelby; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 11:00 AM with Pastor Chad Honacker officiating.
