Rosemary Kanney, age 94, of New Washington, Ohio passed away on Friday, April 26, 2024 at the Legacy Marion Nursing Home. She was born in Shelby, Ohio, on November 21, 1929 to the late Louis and Nellie (Mitten) Rietschlin.
Rosemary was proud to have worked for Shelby Insurance for over 30 years and she was a member of the St. Bernard Rosary Altar Society. Rosemary was a proud farmers wife, who loved to cook. She enjoyed reading and taking care of her family. Most of all Rosemary enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Jerry (Linda) Kanney of Pikeville, KY, Janice (John) Blue of Marion, OH, Patti (Kevin) Steffenhagen of Willard, OH, Nancy (Kevin) Hall of Aiken, SC, and Nellie (Frank) Reith of Shelby, OH; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Mark Rietschlin; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Kanney; siblings, Ruth (Leonard) Kehres, Robert (Eleanor) Rietschlin, and Joseph (Maryann) Rietschlin; sister-in-law, Lucy Rietschlin; and still born son, Karl Joseph Kanney.
Visitation will be at Secor Funeral Home in New Washington, Ohio on Monday, April 29, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Bernard Catholic Church on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery.
