Royden M. Mike Jaynes, age 74, resident of New Washington, Ohio passed away on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at his home. He was born on September 15, 1943 in Willard, Ohio to the late Royden R. and J. Mardell (Ricketts) Jaynes and has been a lifelong New Washington resident. He was a 1961 graduate of Buckeye Central High School and then enlisted in US Navy and served during the Cuban Crisis. He furthered his education by earning an Associates in Drafting and Design, an Associates in Mechanical Engineering, later a Masters in Chemical Dependency Counseling. Mike had worked as a meat cutter at Fishers Market in Norwalk and Gochenours Market in New Washington for 32 years. He then worked for 10 years as Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor at Freedom Hall in Crestline and later at Crosswaeh in Tiffin. He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, served on the New Washington Fire Department and was a life member of the New Washington American Legion where he was a Past Commander.

He is survived by his wife, Helen (Yosick) Jaynes who he married on September 19, 1964; five children, Leah Jaynes of New Washington, Brian (Diana) Jaynes of Ashley, OH, Shawn (Laura) Jaynes of Iberia, OH, Andy (Rachael) Jaynes of New Washington, and Matt (Matthew) Jaynes of New Washington; twelve grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and his three dogs, Roxy, Mojo and Little Bit.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother, Bobbie Jaynes; two nephews, Ronnie Jaynes, and Kevin Jaynes, two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Shaw, and Carol Niederkohr; and his in-laws, James and Helen Yosick.

Visitation will held at the New Washington American Legion on Saturday, March 10, 2018 from 10:00 to Twelve Noon where a memorial service will be held at Noon with Father George Mahas officiating. Burial will take place at later date in St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the family and will distributed among several charitable organizations.
