Ruth Russell, age 94, formerly of Cincinnati, Ohio passed away on Friday, February 22, 2013 at The Willows at Willard in Willard, Ohio. She was born on October 6, 1918 in Cincinnati, to the late Robert and Emma (Becker) Hughes. Ruth was a 1937 graduate of Norwood High School. She was a longtime member of the Cheviot United Methodist Church and enjoyed writing poetry, sewing, baking and doing crossword puzzles. Ruth was very active, as she was always going out to do various activites with her church friends. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her two daughters, Lynn (John) Cook of Cincinnati, and Judy (Thomas) Waldsmith of Tiffin; 7 grandchildren, Shawn Hughes, Mark Hughes and Amy Hughes, all of Cincinnati, Heather Adams of Wilmington, Todd Radel of Cincinnati, Thomas R. Waldsmith of Old Fort, Ohio and Jill Waldsmith of Chicago, IL; and 10 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Streeter Russell Jr. in March of 2003; and one daughter, Karen Hughes.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at Cheviot United Methodist Church and a private burial service will held at a later date in Vine Street Hill Cemetery in Cincinnati. We were sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing. She was such a great friend and neighbor for soo many years. She was a sweet and caring lady and she will be missed.
