From the time I was very young, I can remember Saval Combs as a tall, very neatly dressed preacher whose smiling face lit up a room whenever he entered. He was there when my dad was sick and dying of cancer, as he had been for our family most of my life. I know you will miss him, but our loss is Heaven’s gain. With much sympathy. Baxter and Dorothy Osborne’s baby girl, Sharon

To Mike and family, There are so many memories of my childhood which revolve around your family – church, dinners we shared at your home and ours, our brothers both called Eddie, and so much more. My favorite funny memory is when your dad stayed overnight with us one time, and I was a sleepyhead who did not want to get up! He got a glass that had only a few drops of water in it and “pretended’ to pour it on me. To his great surprise [and mine!] it still had enough water in it to do the trick. He thought he had really made me mad – he just woke me up!! I loved him for the fact that he had a sense of humor. If my dad had lived, they would be the same age. How fortunate we were to have such good men – however imperfect – to be our dads! May God grant you the peace which passes all understanding, and the grace not to mourn as those who have no hope, but to rejoice that he has reached his goal. In case you don’t recognize my name, I am Omer and Marjorie’s daughter.

Mike, I was very sorry to hear about your Father. I know the sting of losing a parent as I lost Mom and Dad in 1998 and 2000. May the Lord comfort you and your family in this time of grief.

My mother{bureda hicks} and father {archie greathouse lived in wayland ky and got to be very close to savel and his wife,When we were raised Savel was like our 2nd father. He never turned away when we needed him., From young to now we are older, when we saw him he always had that beautiful smile and shining face no matter how he felt. Savel only thought of others, took time for us no matter what. God called his angel home and only god knows how much we miss him.
Savel preached at my son’s funeral after he was killed on july-7-1999 at the age of 15, even after just loosing his own child only a few months before. He had to be there in my eyes or i would not have felt right even if he could have only sit beside me i would have still been satisfied just felling the love and peace he always gave.
To all his family and wife, I AM SO SORRY FOR SUCH A GREAT LOSS YOU HAVE SUFFERED.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

As one journey through time in this world, one meets that person that loves their fellow man. I had the privilege in meeting one of these persons, his name is Savel Combs. Now God has called him home from this cruel world to be be with him. Our beloved Brother-in-the-Lord had served and loved the one that spoke peace to his soul in the early 1950’s. Brother Savel lived the life God wants us to and he manifested it. He will be missed by those that loved and cared for him. May God be with his family now and forever.
