Sherman Ray (Jim) Ousley, age 78, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 15, 2025, at his home, surrounded by the love of his family and a thousand nutcrackers. He was born on November 19, 1947, in Martin, Kentucky, to the late John and Margaret (Hall) Ousley.

Sherman found joy in the things he loved most. He was deeply passionate about his 1961 Comet and could often be found working on it or attending car shows, always eager to share stories with fellow enthusiasts. He loved the outdoors—whether deer hunting, tending to his garden, or spending time woodworking. Known as a true “Mr. Fix-It,” Sherman had a gift for figuring things out and helping others, often in his own untraditional way.

Selfless and kindhearted, Sherman rarely told anyone no and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Above all else, he cherished time spent with his family, whom he loved deeply.

Sherman is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Brenda (Stover) Ousley; his children, Angela (Chon) Hoskins, Amy Stephens, James (Jen) Ousley, Vanessa (Jason) Matz, Tifanie (Jared) Strong, and Keegan Ousley; his ten grandchildren, Brett (Allysha) Hoskins, Megan (Martin) Kuhnle, Brittany Stelle, Eliza Ousley, Ryleigh Matz, Jarett Strong, Gwen Ousley, Jevon Strong, Trista Strong, and Jett Strong; and his six great-grandchildren, Corbin Carmichael, Kohen Kuhnle, Avery Kuhnle, Kinsley Hoskins, Tatum Hoskins, and McCartney Hoskins. He is also survived by his sisters, Wanda (Dennis) Myers and Judy Tschanen.

In addition to his parents, Sherman was preceded in death by his siblings, LouVern Ousley, Johnny Ousley, Elizabeth Ousley, and Ethel Hunt.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Secor Funeral Home in Willard, Ohio. A funeral service celebrating Sherman’s life will follow at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Jim Wilson officiating. Online condolences may be shared with the family by visiting www.secorfuneralhomes.com.

Tim and I send our deepest sympathies to every single one of you!! Jim was an all around good guy and was old fashioned and set in his ways. He didnt care to tell you just what he thought about things. And he would put you in your place about things if need be.He had a great since of humor and often made jokes about things on Facebook. He will be missed dearly not seeing him on there any more. He also took great pride in things he loved doing from his tomatoes in the garden to decorating his home for Christmas. And he loved his family very much often posting pictures of his grandchildren helping him out on projects!! We send our love and prayers to you all in this most difficult times!!
