Shirley J. “Susie” Gibson, 64, passed away Monday, April 16 at Hillside Acres after a 2 year battle with cancer. She was born March 10, 1948 and lived in Willard her entire life. She worked as a cook at Fazio’s restaurant, the original YMCA restaurant, and most recently at the Moose Club. Everyone loved her famous cream pies and home cooked meals, along with her quit wit and fun personality. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Willard.
She is survived by her daughters Corinda Gibson of Shelby and Becky Gayheart of Willard, father, Corwin Leonard, of Willard, sisters Linda (Bill) Moran of Willard, Corinne Mills of Newark, April (Bill) Breyman, of Willard, and brother David (Hillary) Leonard of Norwalk, 8 grandchildren: Amanda, Joshua, Johnny, Morgan, Bayley, Kortnie, Logen and Crystal, and several nieces and nephews who dearly loved “Mama Suze.”
She was preceded in death by her mother, Geraldine Leonard Drabek, granddaughter Angelina, and great-grandsons Skylar and Jonathon.
Calling hours will be Friday, April 20, 2012 at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, with a funeral service at the funeral home on Saturday at 11:00 AM with Pastor Roger Thompson officiating. My mom, Ruth Howard, worked with Susie at the YMCA for a number of years. We would like to send our condolences to Susie’s family. Much love to you all!
My entire family send our deepest sympathy to all of you. Susie was such a wonderful person and we certainly enjoyed our time with her at the Fazio Resturant and her wonderful help.
She made amazing pies!!
