Stephen L. “Poppa” Pace, age 75, from New Washington, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at Edgewood Manor in Port Clinton, Ohio. He was born on May 19, 1950, in Ft. Wayne, Indiana to the late Everett and Frieda M. (Herbst) Pace.
Poppa was a 1968 Graduate of Plymouth High School and proudly served in the U.S. Army in Germany and Austria during the Vietnam conflict. He was a great dart player, loved racing and cars, camping, drinking beer with his buddies, and telling stories and jokes. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his sons, Stephen A. (Caroline) Pace of Burns, Tennessee and Matthew (Amanda) Pace of New Washington, Ohio; grandchildren, Savannah, Brystol, Riley and Finley; sister, Joyce (Terry) James of Chino Valley, Arizona; nephews and nieces; and special friends, Doug and Deb Francis and Karl Bame.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Judy M. (Ferguson) Pace who passed away on October 23, 1992 and whom he married in October of 1974.
There will be a graveside service at 1:00PM on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in New Washington, Ohio with Pastor Kevin Mohr officiating and with Military Honors. There will be a Celebration of Life from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at Cranberry Hills Golf Course Banquet Room.
