Thurman Vanderpool, age 73, resident of Willard, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at his home. He was born on June 5, 1938 in Martin, Kentucky to the late Robert and Nora (Sexton) Vanderpool and had been a Willard resident the majority of his life. He attend Willard High School and worked 43 years at the former Plymouth Locomotive. Thurman was a member of the Ripley Chapel and enjoyed model railroading and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Jean (Back) Vanderpool whom he married on June 6, 1964; three daughters, Kathy Mathias of Ohio; Angie (Keith) Wright of Willard; and Christal (Sonny) Mendoza of Troy, MI; two sons, Robert (Jenny) Vanderpool of Mansfield; and Brian (Mindy) Vanderpool of South Amherst, OH; twelve grandchildren; three brothers, Ronnie (Ruth Ann) Vanderpool of Henderson, KY; Dannie (Lisa) Vanderpool of Scottville, KY; and Jim Vanderpool of New Haven; three sisters, Henrietta (Henry) Wright of Plymouth; Lucretta (Larry) Akers of Willard; and Edna (Bob) Alfrey of Shelby; a sister-in-law, Barb Vanderpool of Willard; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by an infant son, Sonny Vanderpool; one brother, Jerry Vanderpool; and step-mother, Bertha Vanderpool.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard, Ohio on Thursday, February 9, 2012 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM at the Ripley Chapel on Old State Road with Reverend Ricky Branham officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Greenwich, Ohio.
