Treva M. Smith, age 97, of Plymouth, Ohio, passed away on Monday, February 12, 2018 at Pristine Senior Living in Willard surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 30, 1920 in Shelby, Ohio to the late Merel D. and Charlotte (Cox) McCormic. She graduated from Shelby High School and was a secretary at the former Shelby Sales Book and A.M.F in Shelby. Treva was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Plymouth, the Rizpah Chapter #153 of Eastern Star in Shelby, and the American Legion Axillary in Plymouth. Treva enjoyed many things in life, a few being: playing cards with her friends, traveling, especially to Florida to see a few friends, drinking coffee and eating sweets. When she was a little girl, Treva loved going to the Ganges with her grandparents. Treva enjoyed life; she especially enjoyed her music. In her later years, every Saturday, she would watch Lawrence Welk. If Treva wasn't listening to music or spending time with her family, she would be doing busy work, such as reading, cleaning, and sometimes crocheting. Treva will be missed by all who knew her. The family would like to thank the staff and nursing aides at Pristine Senior Living for the care and love they gave to Treva.

She is survived by her daughter, Jane A. Smith of Plymouth; sister, Clela M. Gates of Willard; niece, Trudy (Ron) Fraley of Wakeman, Ohio; and a nephew, Jerry (Betty) Cox of Shelby, Ohio. Also survived is Polly Cornell and Holly Korbas, who were like daughters to Treva; and a special friend/caregiver, Pam Howard.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James B. Smith, whom she wed on October 15, 1949; son, John A. Smith; sister, Grace M. Cox; sister-in-law, Madeleine McClure; and special friend, Paul Lake.

Visitation will be at Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth, Ohio on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, where a funeral service will be at 12:00 PM with Pastor Dave Root officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Plymouth. Memorial contributions may be made to Pristine Senior Living Activities Fund. I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Treva was a terrific coworker all those years ago at A.M.F. She kept all of us on the straight and narrow. She was always a treasured friend and always had that special smile whenever I would see her. She will be missed.
