Wanda Sue Briegel, age 69, resident of New Washington, Ohio passed away on Friday, September 11, 2015 in the Galion Community Hospital. She was born on January 3, 1946 in Crestline, Ohio to the late Irwin and Pauline (Hanna) Tooker. Wanda was a 1964 graduate of Buckeye Central High School and a 1966 graduate of the Mansfield Business College. She was a homemaker and had worked at the former Struble Drug in New Washington for many years. She was an active member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in New Washington where she served as custodian for eleven years and was a former treasurer of the Buckeye Central Athletic Boosters. She had a love for pets including cats and her bird, Raymond, knitting, quilting, cross-stitch work, flower gardening, trips to Lake Erie and the Amish Country, but most of all, watching her grandchildren in sports.
She is survived by her husband, James E. Briegel whom she married on April 2, 1966; three children, Laura (Randy) Aichholz of New Washington, Mark (Lori) Briegel of Fredericktown, and Beth (Cortney) Clewell of Zanesville; five grandchildren, Courtney (Wyatt) Wills, Lyndsay and Brooklynn Briegel, Zach Aichholz, and Clayton Clewell; one great grandson, Caleb Wills; and expecting a future great granddaughter, Madelynn Wills in November; one step-daughter, Samantha (Ron) Greathouse; two step-great grandsons, Derek and Jonathon Greathouse; and one sister, Gloria (Richard) Simpson of Shelby.
She is preceded in death by an infant grandson, Connor Briegel.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in New Washington, Ohio on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at the St. John’s Lutheran Church on Wednesday at 11:00 AM with Reverend Tom Pairan officiating. Burial will follow in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery.
