Willis C. “Willie” Lawrence, age 76, resident of Willard, Ohio passed away on Monday, April 16, 2012 in Twilight Gardens Nursing Home in Norwalk, Ohio. He was born on January 6, 1936 in McGuffey, Ohio to the late Wilbur and Mary (Shemburger) Lawrence and had been an area resident the majority of his life. Mr. Lawrence was a retired employee from the Pittsburg Plate Glass Company in Crestline. He was a member of the Willard Freewill Baptist Church and enjoyed church gatherings and meeting with friends in the community. He was a veteran of the US Army having served during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by two daughters, Lisa Harvey of Willard, OH; and Vonna Bays of Ontario, OH; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Rosie Wiggen of Columbus, OH; and Patty Lawrence of Lexington, OH; and his companion, Jeannine Buffington of Willard.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two wives, Fostene (Holbrook) Lawrence; and Gladys (Thornsberry) Lawrence; a sister, Shirley Lawrence; and two brothers, Ronnie and Jack Lawrence.
Visitation will be held at the Freewill Baptist Church, 670 Keefer St., Willard, Ohio on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM where the funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Ron Parson officitaing. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in New Haven, Ohio. Online condolences can be made at www.secorfuneralhomes.com
