Wilma J. “Beany” Cornell, age 90, resident of Plymouth, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Pristine Senior Living in Willard, Ohio. She was born on October 31, 1925 in Plymouth, Ohio to the late Donald and Edna (Eby) Ford and had been a lifelong Plymouth resident. Mrs. Cornell was a graduate of Plymouth High School and had worked as a loan officer at the former Plymouth First National Bank. She is a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Plymouth, the 55 Plus Club and the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary.
Beany was a strong role model to her daughters. She showed them how to be gracious and kind by example. Through her health struggles the last two years, she never complained. As a grandmother to five boys, Beany spent countless hours throwing whiffle balls, playing Nerf basketball and board games. Steering the car in the cemetery and going to Willard to watch the trains were fun filled outings for her grandsons when they were younger. Gathering at her house on Tuesday nights for supper and popcorn will always hold special memories. She looked forward to her annual trips to Amish Country with her two daughters.
She is survived by two daughters, Polly Cornell of Plymouth, and Holly (Mark) Korbas of Shelby; five grandchildren, Josh (Sondra) Deskins, Zach (Rebekah) Cellar, Kevin (Bri) Korbas, Kraig (Abbey) Korbas, and Kurt Korbas (Rashelle Kays); eight great grandchildren, Jared, Hannah, Kerrington, Kendall, Millie, Eli, Grace, and Leighton, and two more expected soon; her sister, Norma Clark; a sister-in-law, Ann Ford; a daughter by heart, Jane Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William Lawrence “Pete” Cornell; and a brother, Frederick Ford.
Celebrate Beany’s life with her family at the Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth, Ohio on Thursday, September 29, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be held at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Plymouth on Friday at 11:00 AM with Pastor Dave Root officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Plymouth. Memorial contributions can be made to Plymouth Swimming Pool Fund or the First Evangelical Lutheran Church. Online condolences can be made at www.secorfuneralhomes.com

Holly and Polly: We extend our sincere sympathy to you and your families. My mom treasured Beany and the bank girls and my parents loved yours. I will always remember your mom for her warm and pleasant personality and her love and devotion to family. You are in our prayers for comfort and healing.

I have a vivid childhood memory of playing “slap jack” with Aunt Beany at a family gathering at the lake one summer. It was so ridiculously fun that I remember giggling with glee. It seemed to have lasted for hours.
The fact that this has stayed with me for more than forty years is proof of Beany’s gentle, patient, and loving nature.

Truly sorry to learn about this passing. Holly & Polly, our sympathy to you and your entire family at the loss of a wonderful mother and friend. I used to see your Mom at restaurants around Plymouth and Willard, and dropped by her table to say “hi” . . . . I always loved her huge SMILE each time we caught up on old times. She will be missed.

Mrs. Lillie - Sep 28, 2016

I’m sorry for the loss of your dear loved one, Wilma, may you find comfort in the God of all comfort, Jehovah, (2 Corinthians 1;3,4) in his word, the bible, in Psalms 34:18: Jehovah is close to the brokenhearted; He saves those who are crushed in spirit. God’s word, also says in Isaiah 25:8: He will swallow up death forever, And the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces…For Jehovah himself has spoken it. (Psalms 83:18; Titus 1:2) Isaiah 33:24; Revelation 21:3-5; / John 5:28,29; John 11:25,26; Acts 24:15. This is what God’s Kingdom, under Jesus Christ rulership, will accomplish in the near future, foe all those who love righteousness. The true God, also promises in his word, in Psalms 37:11,29:.The meek will possess the earth, And they will find exquisite delight in the abundance of peace 29: The righteous will posses the earth, And they will live forever on it. Psalms 104:5; Psalms 115:16; Ecclesiastes 1:4; Job 33:24; Isaiah 35:5,6; Isaiah 65:21,22; Psalms 37:34. (New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures)
