Roscoe Slone, age 74 was born in the Holly Bush community of Knott County, May 18, 1937 the son of the late Irvin and Rebecca Thornsberry Slone. He departed this life, Saturday afternoon, September 10, 2011 at this home.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Jacklean Slone who passed away December 26, 1995.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years; Victoria Faith Spangler Slone; two daughters Loretta and her husband Leonard Hunt and Jackie Lynn Slone and her fiancé Daniel Oney: Step children; Jeremy and his wife Rebecca Denney, Grace and her husband Greg Butcher and Tammy and her husband Jonathan Saunders.
Also surviving are his sisters: Juanita Johnson, Elveta Jowett and Nawana Paniccia: brothers; Cleophas, Aaron and Clifford Slone; 16 grandchildren and 12 ½ great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his son: David Roscoe Slone that passed away in infancy; his sister, Clerandia Snipes and brother, Gary Slone.
Roscoe had accepted Christ as his Savior and attended the New Mount Zion Baptist Church and the Steubenville Baptist Church. He was a retired auto worker with the Ford Motor Company.
Friends may call at the New Mount Zion Regular Baptist Church, 16 High Street, Attica, OH 44807 on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM where a service will be held at 6:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Thurday at the church at 11:00 AM with Pastors Michael Slone and Cleo Dwayne Slone officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in New Haven, Ohio.
