Cheryl Fae Buurma, age 76, of Willard, Ohio passed away on Monday, August 24, 2026 at the Willow’s in Willard surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 23, 1949 in Willard, Ohio to Ray Kooken and Amelia (Dalton) Gullett. Cheryl was a 1968 graduate of Willard High School, where she graduated alongside her high school sweetheart, Bruce. Shortly after high school, the two were married and began a life together, raising three children.
Cheryl was a beloved member of The Chapel in Norwalk. She enjoyed reading and sewing beautiful quilts. Above all, Cheryl cherished her family. She could often be found chasing after her grandchildren and proudly supporting them at every sporting event and extracurricular activity.
She is survived by her loving husband, Bruce Buurma who she has been married to for 55 years; children, Aaron (Chasity), Bryan and Melissa; her grandchildren, Gavin, Tristin, Emelin, Griffin, Pressley, Makinley, Teagan, Bryar; mother, Amelia Gullett and twin sister, Bonnie Reed.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her father, Ray Kooken and step father, Richard Taylor.
Calling hours will be on Thursday, August 27, 2026 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Secor Funeral Home in Willard, Ohio. Additional calling hours will be on Friday, August 28, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until the start of her funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Secor Funeral Home in Willard, Ohio with Pastor Charles Conrad officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at Maple Grove Cemetery in New Haven, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
