David John Kilgore, age 70, of Greer, South Carolina, formerly of Willard, Ohio passed away on Friday, July 15, 2022 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice House in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He was born on December 23, 1951 in Willard to the late Ervin and Dora Jean (Turner) Kilgore.
David worked as a Machinist at Plymouth Locomotive until it’s closing. He then went on to work as a Truck Driver until his retirement. A musician at heart, David loved listening to Floyd Cramer music. He was also the organist for Peoples Baptist Church, where he and his wife, Gwen belonged. His time spent at the church brought him close with his Pastor, Larry Padgett and his wife, Bonnie. In addition to his love of spending time at church, David also enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Gwendolyn (Dyer) Kilgore; children, Jason Kilgore and Angie Kilgore; two grandsons, Benjamin Kilgore and Micah Kilgore; brother, Daryl (Mary) Kilgore; brother-in-law, Don (Diane) Dyer; sister-in-law, Roberta Montgomery; and numerous nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his parents.
Family and friends may visit at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard on Friday, July 22, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. David’s funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Art Kennard officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in New Haven, Ohio. Memorial contributions can be made to Peoples Baptist Church.
