John Max Fidler of Plymouth, Ohio passed away peacefully at home on May 9th, 2026 leaving behind a legacy of faith, family, and service.

Max was born on November 4, 1926, in Cass Township, to the late Anthony and Margaret (Geary) Fidler and spent his entire life in the Plymouth–Shiloh area. He attended Ripley Schools.

Max served his country honorably during the Korean War as a member of the U.S. Army’s 1st Cavalry Division. In addition to his military service, he dedicated 42 years of hard work and craftsmanship as a Tool and Die Machinist at Fate-Root-Heath.

On October 17, 1953, John married Marilyn Bodkin with whom he shared 57 years of marriage and family life until her death April 28, 2011. He was a faithful member of First Lutheran Church in Plymouth and a proud 75-year member of the Ehret-Parcel American Legion Post #447.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his infant son, William Lee Fidler; grandson, Brett Michael Yeager; infant great granddaughter Aaliyah Hope Yeager; and his brothers, Robert Fidler and Earl Fidler.

Max is survived by his three children- Jane Yeager of Plymouth, John Fidler of Plymouth, and Judy Gregg of Mount Vernon; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. He will be remembered as a man who lived simply, loved deeply, and faithfully served his God, family, and country.

Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth, Ohio on Wednesday, May 13th from 4-7pm. The Funeral Service will be held Thursday, May 14th at 10:30 am at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Plymouth, Ohio with Rev. Jeremy Lambert officiating. Burial will follow at the Greenlawn Cemetery in Plymouth, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Evangelical Lutheran Church Building Fund.
