Alice Marie (Higgins) Luna, 79 years old, of Willard, Ohio, died peacefully at home after a lengthy illness Tuesday, January 21, 2014. She was born November 4, 1934 in Oak Grove, Louisiana to the late Paul Higgins and Gladys (Walker) Higgins. She was the oldest of three children. Her brother Alvis P. Higgins passed August 10, 1983 and her sister Mary L. (Higgins) Lowery passed January 26, 2012. A grandson, Thomas L. Slusher, passed June 25, 2013. She attended God’s Temple Church where her son Rev. Albert (AnnaMarie) Luna ministered. She was a homemaker, enjoyed cooking, sewing, holidays, family gatherings, and most of all her grandchildren. She loved to talk about our precious Lord Jesus. On May 13, 1950 she made the long trip from Raymondville, Texas to Plymouth, Ohio with seven adults and 6 children in a 1940 Stewebaker, this was a rough trip, but the determination was there, despite the fact it would be a new experience with the very cold weather in Ohio, finding work for a better life was the focus. In October 1984, she returned once again to take residents in Louisiana to care for her mother until she passed on February 9, 1995.
Alice is survived by her seven children, Steven Jr. (Carol) Luna, Robert (Bob) Luna, Rev. Albert (AnnaMarie) Luna, Gloria Luna Slusher (Curtis) all of Willard, Ohio; Marie Luna Schoen (Neil) of Plymouth, Ohio; Sharon Luna Myers (Dale) of New Haven, Ohio; David (Marianne) Luna of Norwalk, Ohio; by her grandchildren, Aaron Luna, Allison (Luna) Smith, Kristy Luna, T.J. Kilgore, Valerie (Luna) White, Veronica (Luna) Livers, Jessica (Luna) Smith, Matt Kilgore, Alexis Kilgore, John Kilgore, Anthony Slusher, Jason Nichols, Jenifer Nichols, Neil Schoen Jr., Paul Schoen, Heather Nichols, Glenndon Nichols, Autumn (Myers) Clark, Tory (Myers) Timmons, Chris Myers, Rachel (Jenkins) Jones, Sheyenne (Jenkins) Urbine, Elisa (Luna) Brown, Nicole (Luna) Withrow, Jaclyn Luna, numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. You may pay your respects; send flowers, cards, or donations to the family at 3233 Austin Dr. Apt 7 Willard, Ohio on Thursday, January 30, 2014 or Friday, January 31, 2014 from 1:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. Rev. Albert Luna will be officiating a memorial service Friday, January 31, 2014 at 5:00 P.M at the same address.
