Anna Pauline “Peggy” Strauss, age 82, resident of Willard, passed away April 9, 2004, at her home. She was born on August 17, 1921, in Avilla, IN, to the late Karl and Lucille (Samuelson) Schlotterer and had been a resident of Willard most of her life. She graduated from Willard High School in 1941 and worked at the Sherwood Pioneer as a factory worker for many years. She was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and a member of the American Legion Auxillary.
She is survived by four daughters, Claire Schade of Columbia, MD, Susan Watson of Saudi Arabia, Jean Strauss of Columbia, MD, and Linda Strauss of Willard; one son, Vernon Strauss Jr., of Vermillon; ten grandchildren; great grandson and a great granddaughter; four sisters, Eda Briggs of Plymouth, Lucille King of GA, Carol Schriner of Tuscon, AZ, and Theresa Prendergast of Mansfield, OH; and three brothers, V. James Schlotterer of Akron, PA, Bill Schlotterer of Arizona, and Dick Schlotterer of Willard.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Strauss, Sr.; her parents, Karl and Lucille (Samuelson) Schlotterer; four brothers, George, Karl, Louis, and Joe Schlotterer; and four sisters, Marion Frederick, Rita Schlotterer , Rose Kleinhans and Bertha Bapst.
Visitation will be Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard, with a prayer service at 8:45 P.M. The Funeral Mass will be Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Willard with Fr. Robert Dendinger officiating. Burial will be at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Willard.
