Arthur “Art” Shepherd, age 80, of Plymouth, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Willard Healthcare Center in Willard, Ohio. He was born on October 20, 1931 in Floyd County, Kentucky to the late Troy and Virgie (Smith) Shepherd. Art was a veteran in the US Army, having served during the Korean Conflict. He worked at Mayflower in Norwalk for 30 years and enjoyed hunting, camping and farming.
Art is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nancy (Bolen) Shepherd, whom he married on March 5, 1955; one son, Marvin (Tina) Shepherd of Monroeville; two daughters, Mavis (Joe) Hall of Toledo, and Michelle Shepherd of Willard; five grandchildren, Jeremy Cantu, Susan Berger, Eric Shepherd, Ryan Laferty and Emily Laferty; four great grandchildren and six brothers and sisters, Maudie Oney of Willard, Ethel (Marshall) Hicks of Shelby, Marie (Gary) Fletcher of Shiloh, Thelma (Gary) Lynch of South Carolina, Geneva (Charlie) Bailey of Hippo, Kentucky and Robie (Bertha) Shepherd of South Carolina.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Gladys Shepherd.
Friends may call on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 9:00 PM. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at the Freewill Baptist Church in Willard at 11:00 AM with Rev. Ron Parsons officiating.
