Bertha R. Karl, age 92, resident of North Auburn, Ohio passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at her daughter Rose’s home surrounded by her family. She was born on October 13, 1918 in Cranberry Township, Crawford County Ohio to the late Otto and Josephine (Durnwald) Heydinger. She was a member of the Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church in North Auburn as well as the Altar and Rosary Society. Bertha was an avid quilter and enjoyed working in the garden. Dearest to her heart was her large family.
She is survived by five daughters, Kathy (Clem) Kanney of Shelby, Rose (Pete) Wurm of Willard, Diane (Bill) Young of Shelby, Linda (David) Meadows of Crestline and Suzanne (David) Stump of Plymouth; two sons, Kenneth (Susan) Karl of Plymouth and Fred (Sandy) Karl of Plymouth; 18 grandchildren; 30 Great-grandchildren; three sisters, Viola Karl, Vera Clady and Inez Gray and four brothers, Harold, Gilbert, Glenn and Bill Heydinger.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert F. Karl whom she married on June 15, 1940 and who passed away on September 23, 1982; two brothers, Donald and Allen Heydinger; a daughter-in-law, Vicki Eppley Karl; and one infant sister, Mary Alice Heydinger.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in New Washington, Ohio on Sunday, February 20, 2011 from 4:00-8:00 PM. The funeral mass will be held on Monday, February 21, 2011 at 11:00 AM. at the St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in New Washington, Ohio. Burial will follow at the Mother of Sorrows Catholic Cemetery in North Auburn, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Bernard’s Catholic School or the Hospice of North Central Ohio.
