Butler Gearhart, age 89, resident of Shiloh passed away Wednesday, November 3, 2004 in MedCentral Shelby Hospital. He was born February 4,1915 in Floyd County, Kentucky to the late William and Della (Moore) Gearhart and had been a Shiloh area resident since 1956. Mr. Gearhart had been employed in the coal mines in Price, Kentucky and retired from MTD. He was a life long member of Pilgrams Rest Old Regular Baptist Church in Price, Kentucky.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Elva (Stumbo) Gearhart whom he wed October 23, 1935; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Denzil and Josephine Gearhart of Shiloh; Martines Gearhart of Shiloh; Wendell and Brenda Gearhart of Greenwich; a daughter-in-law, Marie Gearhart of Shiloh; 7 granddaughters; 7 great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter. He also leaves behind several other family members, several nieces and nephews and many friends that he has made through his long journey upon this earth. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son Izus “Otis” Gearhart and an infant daughter, Yvonnie.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Faris Tuttle officiating. Burial will follow in the family lot on Guthrie Road in Shiloh.
