Carolyn “Carol” Joyce George, age 82, of Willard, Ohio passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024 at Ohio Health in Mansfield, Ohio. She was born on May 28, 1941 in Willard, Ohio to the late Harry D. Bowmar Sr. and Marybelle (Capelle) George. Carol was a member of the Steuben UCC in Steuben, Ohio which led her to attending UCC Lay school in Tiffin to become a Lay Minister. She was a school bus driver for Willard city Schools for 35 years and a driving instructor for 25 years.
Carol is survived by her five daughters and their spouses, Deborah (Bernie) Kaufmann of Shelby, Dianne (Kevin) Steinmetz of Columbus, Darla (Dee) Graber of Ashland, Dana (Bill) Overmyer of Willard and Dawn Ousley of Willard; 10 grandchildren, Joshua, Carly, Kyle, Robert, Sandi, Skylar, Kate, Norm, Cassidy and Nicki; 8 great grandchildren, Carson, Gavin, Madalynn, Maliyah, Christian, Meredith, Ronin and Declan; along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David L. George; granddaughter, Christina Kaufmann; brother and sister-in-law, Harry D. (Eileen) Bowmar Jr.; nephew, Chuck Bowmar and son-in-law, Greg Ousley.
Calling hours will be on Friday, April 19, 2024 at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard, Ohio from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Carol’s funeral service will also be on Friday, April 19, 2024 at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard, Ohio at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Ron Jesse officiating. Burial will follow at the Greenfield Township cemetery in Steuben, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Steuben UCC. George Girls I just heard about your mom and I'm so sorry for your loss. I got to sit with Carol at Hardee's when I came back from Oklahoma she had me laughing telling me thing that went on in Steuben. Your mom and dad were very important to me. I loved them both and I loved the good times with all of you girls. ❤️

To Carol's girls and their families: I just now found out about the loss of your mom. I know you will miss her terribly, and you have my condolences. She was a great person. We graduated in 1959 along with your dad. Carol and I both played clarinet in band and I remember band trips. Also, she was my sons bus driver at one time and they loved her. I was honored to be Carol's third grade teacher at Reba Bennett school many years ago. I would ride my bike from my home on Dale Ave to school most every day except when it rained or snowed. Miss Buckinham, the first grade teacher would pick me up on those days and bring me to school. I think Carol was in my first or second class I taught. I was Miss Heiser then! Thank goodness Miss Bennett was such a help to me starting my career. Carol and I kept in touch over the years. I was saddened to hear of another one of my "JEWELS" passing. When I taught knew I was polishing jewels for eternity and that is why I wanted to be called a "JEWELER-CATOR".
