Charles E. Niedermier, age 87, of New Washington, Ohio passed away Monday, March 3, 2014 at the Bucyrus Community Hospital in Bucyrus, Ohio. He was born September 23, 1926 in Crawford County, Ohio to the late Linus and Dolores (Blust) Niedermier and had been a life long New Washington resident. Charles was a veteran of the US Navy having served as a Pharmicist 3rd Class during WWII and received the American Theatre Ribbon and the Victory Medal.. Mr. Niedermier retired from the Mansfield Brass in New Washington and was a former New Washington Volunteer Fireman. He was a member of the St. Bernard Catholic Church in New Washington and the American Legion Post 405. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, gardening, antiques, traveling, casino gambling and following the Cleveland Indians.
He is survived by 2 sons, Kevin (Christine) Niedermier of South Euclid, OH; and Joseph Niedermier of New Washington; a daughter, Annette (Gerald) Sanders of Willard; 4 grandchildren, Evan, Reece, Ava and Claire; 2 sisters, Lila Rigdon of Galion; and Laurena Van Eerten of New Washington; 2 brothers, James Niedermier of Tiro; and Robert Niedermier of Attica; numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Donna (Bechtel) Niedermier, who passed away June 8, 1999; a sister, Vivian Morton; and brother, Benny Niedermier.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2014 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Secor Funeral Home in New Washington, Ohio. The funeral mass will be at 11:00 AM on Friday at the St. Bernard Catholic Church in New Washington, with Fr. Eric Culler officiating. Burial will be at the St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery in New Washington. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Foundation. Sorry ,for your loss of your father. I ‘ve known him for a long time along with your mom. He was quite a character. He and I shared many jabs at each other ,he gave has good as he got. I’m sure he’s up there right now playing at the wheel of fortune right along with St.Peter. He and your mom are together again and he has a lot of tales to tell her of all the grandkids and how time had passed since she has been gone. They now will both watch over your family till you all see each other again someday.
