Clara Jane Kissel Snyder, age 89, resident of Shenandoah, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2006 in Hillside Acres Nursing Home in Willard. She was born on February 16, 1917 in Richland Co., to the late Gloyd and Susie (Mohn) Backensto. She was a member of the Shenandoah Christian Church. She was co-owner of Kissel Tractor Sales Inc. in Shenandoah.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary L. and David Motter Sr. of Shenandoah and Janet K. and Lloyd Shorter Sr. of Lancaster, PA; one daughter-in-law, Gladys Kissel of Shenandoah; four step-daughters, Carole Pickworth of Lebanon, OH, Pat and Bruce White of Vermillon, Jeri and Ron Ackerman of Ashland, Sue and Earl Lynch of Shelby; one step son, John II and Linda Snyder of Coshocton; two sisters, Virginia and Merle Band of Shelby and Betty Ditwiler of Lucas; 7 grandchildren; 9 step grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 10 step great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Maurice D. Kissel; her second husband, John J. Synder; three brothers, Jacque, Fred and Jim Backensto; one son, Harold E. Kissel; one daughter, Judy Marie Kissel; one sister, Margaret V. Baker; 2 grandchildren, David L. Motter II and Lloyd G. Shorter Jr.; and one step grandchild, Josh Snyder.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 2, 2006 from 9:00 -11:00 AM at the Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth, where the funeral service will be Tuesday at 11:00 AM, with Tom McFadden officiating. Burial will be at the Shenandoah Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the Shenandoah Christian Church.
