Delmar “Del” Martin Blanton, age 65, resident of New Washington, passed away on Friday, January 18, 2008 in Bucyrus Community Hospital. He was born on August 11, 1942 in Swamp Branch, KY to the late William M. and Lillia V. (Caudill) Blanton. He was a US Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam Era. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans in Bucyrus, Ohio. He enjoyed spending time with his family, going square dancing, watching the birds, and going to flea markets. He loved to read books, especially books on Angels. He contributed to Rev. Schuller church in California, Crystal Cathedral. He was a great husband, father and papa and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Sara Blanton, whom he wed on September 10, 1966; his son, Trent Blanton of New Washington; his daughter and son-in-law, Bridget and Mark Hankins of Mansfield; grandson, Jacob Hankins of Mansfield; two step grandchildren, Doug and Sarah Hankins of Columbus and Jennifer Hankins of Ashland; four step great grandchildren, Raven, Collin, Ruthmarie, and Anna; mother-in-law, Elizabeth Alspach of New Washington; two brothers, Tillma and Barb Blanton of Morgantown, WV and Doug and Debbie Blanton of Warsaw, IN; brother-in-law, Larry and Sandy Alspach of Galion; sister-in-law, Wilma and Lee McClain of Upper Sandusky; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William M. and Lillia V. (Caudill) Blanton; father-in-law, Marion Alspach; and brother-in-law, Conrad Alspach.
