Donald S. “Dutch” Buss, age 87, of Willard, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2009 at the Willard Healthcare Center. He was born February 16, 1922 in Willard, Ohio to the late Rudolph & Amelia (Artz) Buss and had been a life long Willard resident. He was a 1940 graduate of Willard High School and served in the US Navy during WWII and again during the Korean Conflict. Dutch was a retired machinist from the B&O Railroad in Willard. Dutch grew up playing sports as a young boy and played up to the age of 70, when he was playing for 2 different softball leagues. He was also a gold medal winner, with his brother Homer, in the Senior Olympics. He was one of the founding members of the Willard High School Hall of Fame, which he was inducted into in 2008. He was also a loyal fan of the Cleveland Indians, Cavs and Browns. Dutch enjoyed his sports, but what he loved the most was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Dutch is survived by his wife, Lila L. (Blankenship) Buss whom he married on November 8, 1953; one daughter Kim (David) Bailey of New London; 2 sons, Donnie (Carol) Buss of Willard; and Steve (Debra) Buss of Willard; 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by, 5 brothers, Lorne, Milton, Claron and Homer Buss; and an infant brother, Maynard.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard, and from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. on Thursday at the Trinity Lutheran Chuch.
