Doris Jeane Gable Cofer (Jeane), of Willard, Ohio, passed peacefully in the early morning hours of February 18, 2020, just three weeks shy of her 89th birthday. She departed this Earth with a joyous spirit to join her husband, William (Bill); her daughter Charlene; her son Richard (Rick); her grandson William (Billy); her mother, Helen Culley Gable Schultz; and the Good Lord in Heaven.

When asked, Jeane would tell you she was the luckiest person on Earth. She married her beloved Bill in July 1949, just a month after graduating from high school. Together, they built a successful business, and they had seven children - spanning 23 years - Jim, Deborah, Charlene, Rick, Jeff, Ken, and Marc. Although she lost her husband much too early, Jeane never felt like a widow or a single mother because Bill's love surrounded and sustained her and her family for over 70 years until the moment she passed.

Jeane was blessed with the enduring love and friendship of her sister, Ruth Ellen Gable Owen, and each sister looked out after the other throughout their lives. Ruth's six children and their families will miss their Aunt Jeane.

Among her many titles, Jeane was wife, mother, bookkeeper, office manager, CEO, farmer, seamstress, friend, mentor - and there are others. For years, she and her good friend Donna prepared the Sacrament of Holy Communion for Trinity Lutheran Church in Willard, and then they would celebrate their fellowship and service to God by treating themselves to breakfast or lunch at Uncle Dudley's. Her work in textiles brought to Willard creativity and community that represent just a tiny fraction of Jeane's profound legacy, which is founded in her generosity, strength, good humor, and faith in God.

Animals flocked to Jeane as much and as often as people did. She nursed piglets back to health on her back porch, and baby chicks imprinted on her when they hatched in the kitchen during a deep freeze. She was a magnet to stray cats and dogs. Jeane's pets lived enviable lives - just ask Hank and Fluffer.

Jeane was occasionally as feisty as she was always kind - and she could read any person she met like a book. At the same time, she was fiercely independent. Jeane could be seen driving around Willard until only a year ago, when she decided on her own one day that she just didn't need to drive anymore. Jeane was passionately protective of her family; she may have been the original Momma Bear.

Raised in the Toledo, Ohio, area, Jeane moved to Willard in 1970, where she and her husband chose to raise their family. And it's a big one: Seven children and 3 daughters-in-law, Becky, Vicki, Jessica; 17 grandchildren (Kelli, Kory, Jake, Billy, Lynn, Noah, Nikki, Cali, Shelby, Attie, Allison, Zack, Mitchell, Nick, Nathan, Madison, Gabe - as well as their spouses - Tessa, Katy, Brad, Cody - and families, including 9 great grandchildren - Sydney, Savannah, Kash, Ethan, Asher, Genevieve, Isabella, Mosby, Amelia, and one on the way).

Jeane would hope that no tears be shed for her upon her passing. Rather, she would want friends and family to know that she is in a better place and in the best of company, and that all the people who know and love her, now have another angel in Heaven looking out for them. Loved throughout her life, Jeane will be missed and celebrated daily by her family, her friends, and her wide communities.

Visitation will be at Secor Funeral Home in Willard, Ohio on Friday, February 21, 2020 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM where her service will be at 7:00 PM with Pastor Janet Whittenmyer officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church in Willard, Ohio. Online condolences may be made to Jeane's family by visiting www.secorfuneralhomes.com
