Edna E. Kanney, age 94, resident of Bucyrus and former New Washington resident passed away on Monday, March 24, 2008 in Bucyrus Community Hospital. She was born on March 8, 1914 in Prospect, Ohio to the late Stephen and Florence (Rhodebeck) Reber and had been a New Washington resident the majority of her life. Mrs. Kanney was a homemaker and farmed with her husband and sons for many years and had worked several years at the former Norton’s Restuarant in Bucyrus, the C.E. White Company and the Willard Hospital. She is a member of the St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society and the former LCBA.
She is survived by four sons and two daughters-in-law, Virgil Kanney of Cosby, TN ; Paul and Nancy Kanney of Tiffin; Clet and Marilyn Kanney of New Washington; Jim Kanney of North Robinson; one daughter and son-in-law, Inez and Duane Hord of Bucyrus; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; one sister, Marie Geisise of Shelby; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition of her parents she was preceded death by her husband, Walter Kanney in 1967; a daughter, Donna Alt; four brothers, Walter, Howard, Clarence and Roy Reber.
Visitation will be held at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in New Washington on Thursday, March 27, 2008 from from 9 to 11 AM where the Funeral Mass will then be celebrated at 11:00 AM with Father Robert Dendinger officiating. Burial will follow in St. Bernard’s Catholic Cemetery in New Washington, Ohio. Memorial expressions can be made to the St. Bernard’s Endowment Fund.
