Gertrude C. Bishop, age 97, of New Washington, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at her home. She was born August 14, 1918 in New Washington, Ohio to the late Louis and Mary (Eberl) Hoehn. She lived most of her life in New Washington and had lived five years in Akron during WW II. She was a member of the St. Bernard Catholic Church in New Washington, Ohio and the Rosary Altar Society. Gertrude enjoyed going to Florida in the winters, playing cards, crocheting, bicycling and most of all, loved being with her grandkids.
She is survived by her six sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Joann Bishop of Shelby, Richard and Becky Bishop of Crossville, TN, Stephen and Linda Bishop of Bucyrus, Alan and Sue Bishop of Bucyrus, Randy and Marcia Bishop of Bucyrus and Roger and Sherri Bishop of Bucyrus; 19 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law, Grace Bishop and Jenny “Gitch” Swihart and brother-in-law, Linus (Freda) Bishop.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter C. Bishop, her parents Louis and Mary Hoehn, six siblings, Josephine Miller, Roma Hoehn, Loretta Bishop, Lucile Hartman, Frances Bishop and Corneilus Hoehn.
Visitation will be Friday, December 11, 2015 from 3:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Secor Funeral Home in New Washington, Ohio, where there will be a rosary service at 6:45 P.M. The Funeral Mass will be Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. at the St. Bernard Catholic Church in New Washington with Fr. Eric Culler officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery in New Washington. Memorial contributions may be made to HomeCare Matters Hospice or to the St. Bernard Endowment Fund.
