Gertrude V. Karl, age 97, resident of Tiro, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2006 in Hillside Acres Hursing Home in Willard. She was born on February 23, 1909 in Attica, Ohio, to the late Alois and Emma (Schriner) Ball and had been a resident of the New Washington area all of her life. She was a member of the St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in New Washington and the Altar Rosary Society. She was a Charter member of the Golden Age Center and enjoyed cooking, quilting and gardening.
She is survived by two daughters, Miriam and Omer Baetens of Deerborn, MI, and Martha and Merle Ahrens of Port Clinton; one son, Gerald ‘Buzz’ and Margie Karl of Shelby, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Walter Karl, her parents, one daughter, Dolores Niese, one brother, and one sister.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in New Washington on Friday, Sept. 1, 2006 from 4-8 PM. Funeral mass will be held at the St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in New Washington on Saturday at 10:30 AM with Father Robert Dendinger officiating. Burial will follow at the Mother of Sorrow’s Catholic Cemetery in North Auburn. Memorial expressions may be made to donor’s choice in lieu of flowers.
