oGreg was my Cousin, and while we did not spend much time together, I am deeply saddened by the fact that not only have I lost a Cousin, but a Brother. I to was a member of 3rd Battalion, 25th Marines, and while not spending much family time with him, I spent more time as a member of the United States Marine Corps and a true bond that can’t be broken. Uncle Wayne, I am so sorry for your loss, I will continue to live my life proud of the Marine Corps, Greg, and every thing that we stand for. Semper Fidelis Cousin!

I am so sorry for ur loss. The loss of a child is a parents nightmare, I also lost my child in plymouth in an auto accident at the age of 15. I hear and read of ur son and only good things have been said. I know u r proud of him and his accomplishments through his life. The pain is unbearable and we all handle it in different ways. I pray god be with u and ur family to help with ur grieving. My sister wrote my sons obituary and she said .( How do u comfort a parent who has lost the most precious thing to them in this world) Fall to ur knees and ask god to hold them up , Help them.

Phyllis and Wayne Sandy and I are so sorry to hear about Greg. Its just impossible to know to understand the losing of a son at that age.Joe and him were good friends and classmates and on the football team together. We thought is was an amazing young man and soldier. I think Joe and Greg served in Iraq about the same time only in different parts. He will be truly missed.Sandy and I last spoke with him in Mansfield just before he was getting deployed to Afghanistan. He had that big smile, but was always so quiet. He is now guarding the gates of Heaven and will truly be missed in this world.Again we are truly sorry for your great loss. Kenny and Sandy Edgeson

The Craig Family - Jul 19, 2011

To the Sgt. Greg Oney Family, My son called me at about 1100 pm this past Saturday night and he had a odd sound to his voice. As a dad, I knew that something was terribly wrong. Scott informed me that a member of his family had been killed in an accident. When I asked who, it was all he could do to tell me. He simply said one of “my brothers”. I had no advice, no words of wisdom to share, really nothing I could say except I’m very sorry. You see, Scott was the corpsman attached to Greg’s sniper group, and his job was to take care of the other 7 members. He is feeling a profound sadness, which only he can know. It’s a tragedy this happened. Please accept my and my families heartfelt sympathy for all of our loss. May God Bless You and Keep You! Sincerely, The Craig Family

GySgt. Michael Valenti - Jul 18, 2011

Neither a wise nor a brave man lies down on the tracks of history to wait for the train of the future to run over him.
Dwight D. Eisenhower
Sgt. Greg Oney was one of those Marines who always made a difference. When I came aboard to Weapons Company after our deployment to Iraq, then Lcpl Oney was a man who never lied down for anyone. I found this Marine to be Motivated, dedicated and ambitious to seek self improvement to achieve his goals. The drive he possessed guided him to do great things for himself and encouraged his fellow Marines. He’s a man you could count on when the going gets tough. HE NEVER STOOD STILL AND WAITED, HE WENT TO IT.
Sleep well Sgt. and when time comes to pass I
will again stand guard with you!!!
My heart warmed condolences go the family.
Semper Fidelis Ad-Mortem,
Gunnery Sergeant Michael Valenti
Retired / U.S.M.C
