Jack F. Mathias, age 87, resident of Willard, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at Hillside Acres Nursing Home. He was born on June 7, 1924 in Library, PA to the late Urias and Mary (Burke) Mathias. Jack is a WWII veteran. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and the Moose, where he held an officer position. He was very proud of raising three wonderful, caring and loving children. Jack enjoyed cooking, reading, fishing, hunting, camping, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his three children, Cheryl (Dwight) Vogel of Willard, Lynn Champagne of McDonald, PA, and Mike (Nancy) Mathias of Beaver, PA; grandchildren, Carrie (Billy) Weiss of Reynoldsburg, OH, Ken (Libby) Champagne of Denver, CO, Jeff (Rosemary) Vogel of Brownsville, TX, Keith (Elizabeth) Champagne of Eighty-Four, PA, Christa (Ken) Wukovich of New Eagle, PA and Nick and Dimitri Mathias of Beaver, PA and seven great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Martha (Rabold) Mathias, whom he married on August 2, 1947 and one brother, Gene Mathias.
A private graveside commital service will be held in Jefferson Memorial Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Secor Funeral Home in Willard, Ohio assisted the family with arrangements. Online condolences can be left for the family at www.secorfuneralhomes.com.
