James M. Patterson, age 70, resident of New Washington, passed away on Monday, December 3, 2007 at his home. He was born on December 31, 1936 in New Washington, Ohio to the late Milton and Doris (Weaver) Patterson and had been a life long resdient. He is graduate of New Washington High School and then served in the Ohio National Guard. His first job was at the Egg Auction in New Washington, and was later employed at Swan Rubber in Bucyrus, North Electric in Galion and most recently the New Washington Water Plant. Jim would best be know as the New Washington Police Chief where he proudly served the community for 30 years and with the department for 32 years.
He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, trapping and local history.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Patterson, whom he wed on June 30, 1973; two sons James D. Patterson of Galion, Kenneth and his wife Juanita Patterson of Victoria, VA; four daughters Rene’ Henry; Michele Bagloa of Attica; Patina JoHan of Bucyrus, and Alicia and her husband Reese Martin of Tiro; thirteen grandchildren; six great granchilren; two sisters Sharon and her husband Larry Hopple of New Washington; Bonnie and her husband Dan Ingles of Bellevue; and his dog Roxi.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in New Washington on Wednesday December 5 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 1:00 PM with Rev. Pamela Sayre officiating. Burial will follow in Union Pisgah/Swamp Cemetery in Attica, Ohio. Memorial expressions may be made to MedCentral Hospice, MedCentral Cancer Center or to the family.
