James Pitzen, age 72, of rural Shelby, Ohio passed away Monday, June 9, 2014 at The Willows at Willard, Ohio. He was born on May 30, 1942 in North Auburn to the late Jacob and Dorothy (Rhodes) Pitzen. He was a graduate of New Washington High School and had served in the Army National Guard. Jim retired after 40 years from R.R. Donnelley’s in Willard, Ohio. He loved working with wood, gardening, birds, cooking and fixing things; if it broke, he could fix it. Jim was an avid sports fan especially the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians and Ohio State Buckeyes. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. .
He is survived by his wife, LaVonne Pitzen, whom he married November 4, 1961; two daughters, Christine Pitzen; and Jodi Pitzen both of California; two grandsons, Cameron Stockmaster and Chance Dalton; two sisters, Betty Miller of Clyde and Mary Pitzen of Mansfield; two brothers, Karl (Brenda) Pitzen of New Washington; and John Pitzen of Mansfield; numerous nieces and nephews.
James is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Terri Pitzen Elliot; two brothers, Rick and Jake Pitzen, and one sister, Bonnie (Forest) Strohm.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 12, 2014 from 2:00 – 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth, Ohio, where the funeral service will be on Friday, June 13, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Linda Kaufman officiating. Burial will be at the Greenlawn Cemetery in Plymouth, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association or the Alzheimer’s Association. I am so sorry to hear about Jim’s passing. He was an amazing man and I know he loved you beyond reasoning. He and Terri will be waiting for the rest of the family at those Pearly Gates of Heaven.
I still dream about Terri from time to time. I miss her greatly!
