Jessileana Keene Holt was born October 31, 1935 in Floyd County, Kentucky to William and Hallie (Justice) Keene. Jessie died September 8th, 2011 at 4:00 AM after an extended illness. Jessie married Franklin Holt on March 3, 1956 and they were blessed with four wonderful sons: David (Kathi) of Waldo, Ohio; Jeffrey of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Gary (Karen) of Hilliard, Ohio; and Randall (Angela) of Columbus, Ohio. She is survived by her husband; sons; daughters-in-law; siblings: Herman (Lois) Keene of Willard, Ohio, and Shirley (Robert) Coldwell of Bucyrus, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Earl Keene; Virl Keene; Rosie (Keene) McGuire; William “Junior” Keene; Lula (Keene) Tuttle; infant siblings: Corbin; Hearl; and Lily Keene; as well as a granddaughter, Brittany Erin Holt.
She and her husband, Frank, lived in many states when Frank was in the Air Force. While in Alabama, Jessie earned her Licensed Practical Nurse certificate. In 1974, they settled in Plymouth, Ohio and Jessie began work in the Shelby Hospital. While working part-time, Jessie graduated from North Central Technical College as a Registered Nurse. She worked at the Shelby Hospital for 19 years (mainly in the labor and delivery department) and retired when her health began failing.
Jessie was a member of the Plymouth Church of Christ and the Shiloh Garden Club. Jessie spent her free time gardening, canning green beans and grape juice, and decorating her home. She also enjoyed ceramics, cake decorating, cross stitch, and quilting. Jessie was a devoted mother to her sons and a caring grandmother to all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved each one and was proud of their achievements. Jessie loved being with her family, especially at holiday times.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth, Ohio on Friday, September 9, 2011 from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM where a service will follow at 6:00 PM with Minister Don Beverly presiding. On Saturday, September 10, 2011 friends may call at the Little Rebecca Old Regular Baptist Church on Henry Road in Plymouth, Ohio from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM where a service will follow at 6:00 PM. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 11, 2011 at the Little Rebecca Old Regular Baptist Church at 11:00 AM with Elder Buddy Carty presiding with burial to follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Plymouth, Ohio. Dear Family, I worked with Jessie for many years at Shelby Hospital. She was a caring, knowledgable and compassionate nurse as well as a good friend. She was always ready to assist a patient or a friend in need. Her quiet reassuring nature comforted us all. A proud Mother, a dedicated wife, Jessie was a special lady. We extend our deepest sympathy in the loss of your wife and mother. I (Paula) worked with Jessie at Shelby Memorial Hospital and can say there was no finer nurse and person than Jessie Holt. I have many memories from those days. I enjoyed visiting with her once I moved to Plymouth and treasure the times I spent with her. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
