John E. Hass, age 88, resident of Hillside Acres Nursing Home and former Plymouth resident, passed away Wed., March 17, 2004 at the Willard Mercy Hospital. He was born June 3, 1915 in Shiloh to the late John and Nettie (Bland) Hass and has lived all of his life in the Plymouth area. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Plymouth. Mr. Hass was the owner of Hass’ Marathon Service Station in Plymouth for 23 years and was a proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 40 years.
He is survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Delbert & Beth Hass of Tiro and Carl & Debbi Hass of Plymouth; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jo & Russel Larick of Bucyrus; 7 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 2 step-great grandchildren; a brother, Wilbur Hass of Mansfield; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Johanna (Harnish) Hass in 1999; four brothers and four sisters.
Visitation will be Friday from 3-5 and 7-9 PM at the Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth, where a vigil service will be held at 8:35 PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:30 AM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Plymouth, with Fr. Melvin Verhoff and Sister Barbara Miller officiating. Burial will be at the Greenlawn Cemetery in Plymouth. Memorials may be made to the St. Joseph Catholic Church or to the Plymouth Fire and Rescue.
