My condoelences to all the Root family. Larry was most supportive to the kids and fellow staff members that were fortunate to have crossed his path. I certainly appreciate his kindness and enjoyed his humor and strong sense of commitment. The strength of his character will live on in the wonderful family and friends that he touched. Take care…Paul Gase

Brian Bevier - Jun 26, 2010

Larry was truly one of the most humble people I’ve ever met. Always a kind word and smile. Alot of rounds of golf at Woody were better just because he was in my foursome. No more suffering, only eternal happiness. God Bless.

Phil A. Bushey - Jun 26, 2010

To the Root family, I would like to express my deepest sympathy on Coach Roots passing. He was one of my first coaches wayback in Jr. high and I always admired his class and style. He never belittled and often lead by example. He made a lasting impression on me during my formative years. I had often thought of him during these many past years and wondered how he was getting along. Although, I only knew coach as a bachelor, he seemed like a father to all of us. May God’s grace sustain you in this time of need.

Elaine, Amy, Lori, and family-
Words just don’t seem adequate in any way right now. But I pray that you may feel the many prayers of those around you, the caring thoughts of those who grieve with you (anyone who knew the great man Larry Root!), and the all-surrounding comfort of our God.
May the peace that passes all understanding be with you every moment each step of this journey.
He lives on in all of you and will not be forgotten.
Prayers and thoughts to all of you from Bluffton,
Kathy

Girard Cashman - Jun 25, 2010

My deepest condolences to the Root Family,
I was one of Coach Root’s early students at Shiloh Jr. High and played basketball for him in the 9th grade. He had a lasting impact on my life as a role model and mentor over the next 6 years as I moved on to Plymouth High school. We played a lot of pick-up games together and he was always there for the students when we needed him. In later years, as I became a coach, I used many of his plays and tried to set as good an example for my athletes as Coach Root had done for me.
As a retired teacher and coach I think that if we have any legacy at all, it is the players that have taken up our mantel and will eventually pass it on as well. Thanks for the great memories.
